Dunwoody 4th of July crash results in two charged with reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle

An inquiry into a crash at Dunwoody s annual th of July parade has resulted in charges for two people driving a truck in the parade According to a release from Dunwoody Sgt Michael Cheek Ruby Liversidge a -year-old from Decatur and Finn Drummond a -year-old from Alpharetta were cited in the matter The release stated Drummond was driving an F- truck with a trailer attached to it Just before the crash took place he and Liversidge decided to switch drivers They left the conveyance in drive and moving while they made the switch the message declared When Liversidge got into the driver s seat she mistakenly hit the accelerator causing the F- to lunge forward and strike a -year-old female walking in front of the conveyance She was knocked to the ground and injured but not severely At the same time the trailer disconnected from the truck causing the occupants of the trailer to strike the side railings which resulted in several injuries The trailer chains were not connected to the truck when officers arrived and the hitch pin was never revealed the release announced One child suffered a broken orbital socket while another child received numerous stitches from a cut on the forehead The remainder of the casualties received minor injuries or had other complaints In total four adults and four children were injured in this crash the release noted The -year-old was the only one outside the trailer who was struck by the F- The parade was halted for about - minutes while the casualties were treated and transported to therapeutic facilities After police spoke with numerous onlookers the drivers and the sufferers it was determined there was sufficient probable cause to charge Drummond with reckless driving and Liversidge with serious injury by conveyance and reckless driving The pair was later notified of the warrants for their arrests and were recounted to turn themselves in at DeKalb County Jail by the morning of July which they did around a m According to DeKalb County Jail records both Drummond and Liversidge were booked and disclosed after posting bond The post Dunwoody th of July crash results in two charged with reckless driving serious injury by automobile appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
